Command Master Chief Daniel Field was born in San Jose, CA and enlisted in the Navy on March 3, 1992. After graduating boot camp, he attended HM “A” School in San Diego, Ca. In August, 1992, he reported to his first duty station, Naval Hospital San Diego, CA and transferred in February 1994 to Field Medical Service School, Camp Pendleton, CA. Upon graduation from FMSS, he then reported to 1st Marine Division. In September, 1998, upon his promotion to HM2, he transferred to Clinical Support BMC Naval Station as Leading Petty Officer.
He reported to Naval School of Health Sciences, San Diego for Surface IDC School in July 2000. Upon graduating, his assignments included the USS CONSTELLATION (CV 64), 3rd Marine Air Wing, Marine Air Control Group 38, MCAS Miramar, USS THATCH (FFG 43), USS MILIUS (DDG 69), Afloat Training Group Pacific, USS COMSTOCK (LSD 45) as Medical Departmental Leading Chief Petty Officer, and Naval Medical Center San Diego where he was promoted to Master Chief and assumed the Command Master Chief role.
In 2014, CMDCM Field was selected as CMDCM for 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Camp Foster, Okinawa. He was responsible for all Marine Corps aviation assets and personnel in MCB Kaneohe Bay, MCAS Futema and MCAS Iwakuni. He advised and guided three Generals and over 24 Sergeants Major, Executive Officers and Commanding Officers on Navy policies and personnel matters. Selected in June of 2017as Carrier Air Wing FIVE, Command Master Chief, he led the homeport shift for 2,100 Sailors from Naval Air Facility Atsugi to Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni while being deployed in support of SEVENTH Fleet operations and multiple detachments throughout the Pacific Theater. Master Chief Field currently serves as Amphibious Force U.S. SEVENTH Fleet, Expeditionary Strike Group SEVEN/Task Force SEVEN SIX Command Master Chief in Sasebo, Japan.
Master Chief Field’s personal achievements and awards include: Graduate Naval War College Senior Enlisted Academy #170, Enlisted Surface Warfare, Enlisted Aviation Warfare, Enlisted Fleet Marine Force Warfare, Afloat Training Specialist, Master Training Specialist, Meritorious Service Medal (2), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4), and numerous unit and campaign awards.
