TASMAN SEA - 190711-N-WI365-2119 TASMAN SEA (July 11, 2019) – The amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48) sails in formation with U.S. Navy, Royal Australian Navy, Royal Canadian Navy and Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force warships during Talisman Sabre 2019. Ashland, part of the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group, with embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, is currently participating in Talisman Sabre 2019 off the coast of Northern Australia. A bilateral, biennial event, Talisman Sabre is designed to improve U.S. and Australian combat training, readiness and interoperability through realistic, relevant training necessary to maintain regional security, peace and stability.
