USS Green Bay celebrates classic Navy tradition

VITIAZ STRAIT - 181130-N-DX072-1177 VITIAZ STRAIT (Nov. 30, 2018) Logistics Specialist 2nd Class Tajee Whitfield sews a collar device onto the coveralls of newly frocked Logistics Specialist 2nd Class Emery Joyeau during a “Tacking on the Crow” ceremony on the mess decks of the amphibious transport dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20). The ceremony is a tradition that dates back to the Royal Navy and the days of the sail. Green Bay, part of Commander Amphibious Squadron 11, is operating in the region to enhance interoperability with partners and serve as a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
