SASEBO, Japan - 180418-N-IO414-057 SASEBO, Japan (April 18, 2018) Children wave goodbye to the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) as she departs Sasebo, Japan, capping six years of forward deployed service in the Indo-Pacific region. Bonhomme Richard will now transit to its new homeport in San Diego for follow-on operations and eventual upgrades to become F-35B Lightning II capable.
