PHILIPPINE SEA - 180418-N-FN963-0020 PHILIPPINE SEA (April 18, 2018) Operations Specialist 2nd Class Franklin Espinosa, from Los Angeles, directs a U.S. Air Force F-35A Lightning II during an air defense exercise from the combat information center of the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Sterett (DDG 104). Sterett and the USS Dewey (DDG 105) added a defensive layer and provided simulated strike capabilities to advance the "Up-Gunned ESG" concept during operations with the Wasp Expeditionary Strike Group and embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, which were on a routine patrol in the Indo-Pacific.
