Memorial Service Held at Kama Cemetery for Japanese War Dead

SASEBO, Japan - SASEBO, Japan (May 13, 2019) Capt. Ed Thompson, Deputy Commander Amphibious Force Seventh Fleet, along with local Japan Self-Defense Force leaders, observes a moment of silence during Kama Cemetery’s annual memorial service for the war dead May 12, 2019. Representatives from Sasebo City and Nagasaki Prefecture government and civic organizations participated in the memorial service. Kama Cemetery was established for the 4,822 Japanese civilian and military personnel who died overseas in World War II and whose remains were brought back to Japan and cremated at the Hario Repatriation Center.
