Amphibious Force 7th Fleet holds Change of Command
SASEBO, Japan - 190517-N-GC129-0093 SASEBO, Japan (May 17, 2019) Vice Adm. Phil Sawyer (left), commander of U.S. 7th Fleet, Rear Adm. Brad Cooper, and Rear Adm. Fred Kacher bow their heads during the invocation by Cmdr. Steven Stougard, chaplain of the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1), during a change of command ceremony aboard Wasp. Kacher relieved Cooper as commander of Amphibious Force 7th Fleet during the ceremony. Commander, Amphibious Force 7th Fleet is the Navy's only forward-deployed amphibious force, headquartered at White Beach Naval Facility in Okinawa, Japan, and is responsible for the full range of expeditionary operations from disaster relief to crisis response in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations.
