Captain Adam Bellin hails from the greater Milwaukee area. He graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly Iowa whereupon he joined the Navy and received his commission in December of 1999 through Officer Candidate School in Pensacola Florida. He holds a Master of Arts in Diplomacy from Norwich University and a Master of Military Art and Science from the US Army Command and General Staff College.
Bellin’s sea tours include USS NASHVILLE (LPD 13) as the 2nd Division and Weapons Officer and USS TYPHOON (PC 5) as the Weapons Officer, Supply Officer and First Lieutenant. He deployed to the Western Mediterranean and for Operation Noble Eagle.
Ashore, he was assigned to Commander, Operational Test and Evaluation Force as an Operational Test Director in the Surface Warfare Division. In the latter half of his tour he was selected as the Flag Lieutenant to the Admiral.
In October of 2006 Bellin affiliated with the Navy Reserve, Mobile Inshore Undersea Warfare Unit 206 as the Maintenance and Repair Department Head. A reorganization to Maritime Expeditionary Command and Control Division 24, moved him to Training Department Head. He was promoted to Executive Officer upon the unit’s mobilization to Kuwait with CTG 56.5. He served as the liaison officer to the Kuwaiti Coast Guard, Assistant Seaward Security Officer, and the Senior Watch Officer. Subsequent tours include the Joint Staff, J35 Global Force Management; Commander, US Naval Forces Europe / Africa, US Sixth Fleet, Detachment 802 as the Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations and Planning. He was mobilized from 2020-2023 to Expeditionary Combat Readiness Center in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and subsequently to Navy Expeditionary Combat Command and Commander, Navy Reserve Forces as the Local Area Coordinator for Mobilizations (LACMOB)/N36 Officer.
Bellin’s command tours include Maritime Expeditionary Sensor Detachment, 462, Cheatham Annex VA; Navy Reserve, Navy Security Forces, Navy Information Operations Command Sugar Grove, WV; Plank-owner of Costal Riverine Squadron TEN’s DELTA Company, Portsmouth, VA, Expeditionary Combat Readiness Center’s Detachment Forward, Norfolk, VA and NR Carrier Strike Group Four – Force Protection, Norfolk, VA.
Bellin is currently dual hatted as the Commanding Officer of the Navy Reserve, Expeditionary Strike Group Seven unit based in St. Louis, MO and as the Deputy Commander of ESG7 in Okinawa Japan.
His awards include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medals, Army Commendation Medal, and other unit, campaign and personal awards.
Bellin’s civilian employer is Frontier Technology Inc. Locally, he is a member of the VFW, DAV, Trustee for the Highland Park Civic League and sits on the Sacred Heart Parish Finance Council.
