Navy PREVMED Team Embarks Ships in U.S. 7th Fleet

PHILIPPINE SEA (March 18, 2020) Lt. Cmdr. Danett Bishop, from Hawthorn Woods, Illinois, tests respiratory samples in the biological safety lab of amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6). America, flagship of the America Expeditionary Strike Group, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit team, is operating in U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.

Operating as an expeditionary strike force, the Navy-Marine Corps team integrates the combat power of the Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group with the flexible capability of the America Expeditionary Strike Group and 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit to provide the fleet commander with a capable, credible combat force that can be deployed anywhere in the world.

SOUTH CHINA SEA (March. 1, 2020) - U.S. 7th Fleet Vice Adm. Bill Merz and Commanding General, III Marine Expeditionary Force Lt. Gen. H. Stacy Clardy met to discuss naval integration aboard the 7th Fleet flagship USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19) in the South China Sea. The focus of naval integration is to ensure the Navy and Marine Corps are aligned with the National Defense Strategy, which requires shifting from traditional power projection to meeting the new challenges associated with maintaining a persistent naval forward presence.

Blue Ridge with embarked U.S. 7th Fleet Sailors arrived in Busan, Republic of Korea (ROK) for a regularly scheduled port visit Feb. 5. During their visit they will engage in local culture, host military-to-military engagements and build relationships through music and public service activities.

Blue Ridge is the oldest operational ship in the Navy and, as 7th Fleet command ship, actively works to foster relationships with allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific Region.

YOKOSUKA, Japan (January 23, 2020) Operations Specialist 1st Class Diana Park, from Winter Springs, Florida, assigned to Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG) 7, receives the U.S. 7th Fleet Sea Sailor of the Year Award from Rear Adm. Ted LeClair, deputy commander, U.S. 7th Fleet and Command Master Chief Jason Haka. The 7th Fleet Sailor of the Year Week is designed to share with these outstanding Sailors the unique operational environment in the 7th Fleet as well as enhance regional partnerships with like-minded forces.
