USS WASP (LHD 1) departs 7th Fleet

SOUTH CHINA SEA (March 29, 2019) The amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) transits the waters of the South China Sea. Wasp, flagship of Wasp Amphibious Ready Group, is operating in the Indo-Pacific region to enhance interoperability with partners and serve as a lethal, ready-response force for any type of contingency.

SANTA RITA, Guam (Aug. 30, 2019) Expeditionary forces from Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States pose for a group photo during Exercise HYDRACRAB. HYDRACRAB is a quadrilateral exercise conducted by forces from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and U.S. Naval forces. The purpose of this exercise is to prepare the participating Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) forces to operate as an integrated, capable, and potent allied force ready to respond to a changing and complex maritime environment in the Indo-Pacific region.

NAVAL BASE GUAM (April 15, 2019) Sailors assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 5, jump out of a MH-60S Seahawk helicopter, attached to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 25, during a Cast and Recovery portion of the Naval Helicopter Rope Suspension Technique (HRST) course. EODMU-5 is assigned to Commander, Navy Expeditionary Forces Pacific, the primary expeditionary task force responsible for the planning and execution of coastal riverine operations, explosive ordnance disposal, diving engineering and construction, and underwater construction in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations.

US, Japan EOD Forces Complete Exercise 2JA

PACIFIC OCEAN (Aug. 6, 2019) Naval Air Crewman (Helicopter) 2nd Class Nathan Swartz from Elmhurst, Illinois, is lowered to the deck of Chinese-flagged vessel CSC Brave to assess a Cpatient and prepare him for movement via litter hoisting during a medical evacuation mission by the �Island Knights� of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 25. The Guam-based �Island Knights� of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 25 responded to the Chinese civilian in distress in the Pacific, Aug. 6.

Ashland, part of the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group, with embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, is operating in the Indo-Pacific region to enhance interoperability with partners and serve as a ready-response force for any type of contingency.

CAIRNS, Australia (July 26, 2019) The amphibious transport dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20) arrives in Cairns, Australia for a scheduled port visit. Green Bay, part of the Wasp Expeditionary Strike Group, with embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, participated in Talisman Sabre 2019 off the coast of Northern Australia. A bilateral, biennial event, Talisman Sabre is designed to improve U.S. and Australian combat training, readiness and interoperability through realistic, relevant training necessary to maintain regional security, peace and stability.

Lawrence (DDG 110) transit with the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS McCampbell (DDG 85) during a photo exercise (PHOTOEX) as part of the exercise Talisman Sabre 2019. McCampbell, part of the Wasp Expeditionary Strike Group, with embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, is currently participating in Talisman Sabre 2019 off the coast of Northern Australia. CORAL SEA (July 11, 2019) The Navy’s forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) sails alongside, from right to left, the U.S. Navy’s Amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1), USS William P. Lawrence (DDG 110), the Royal Canadian Navy’s HMAS Regina, ¬the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force’s JS Ise (DDH 182), USCGC Stratton (CGC 752), and USS McCampbell (DDG 85) during Talisman Sabre 2019. Talisman Sabre 2019 illustrates the closeness of the Australian and U.S. alliance and the strength of the military-to-military relationship. This is the eighth iteration of this exercise.
